Many aquatic organisms are preferred by aquarists due to their beautiful appearance; however some are preferred because of their different functions. These may be various aquatic plants, crustaceans and molluscs. Apple snails are molluscs that are generally light yellow with dark lines on the yellow spots, and can be fed in aquariums together with non-aggressive fish. Besides preventing undesired moss in the aquarium, they also feed on fodder that falls to the bottom of the aquarium and balance important water parameters such as nitrite, nitrate, water hardness and pH. The objective of this study is to draw attention to the natural filtration role of apple snails (Pomacea spp.) besides its morphology, biological properties and general beautiful appearance in the aquarium.
