On The Fecundity of The Round Sardinella Sardinella aurita (Valenciennes, 1847) In The Aegean Sea

DOI : 10.17693/yunusae.v16i21960.368777 Viewed : 2626 - Downloaded : 1530 The present study which determined the reproduction characteristics and fecundity of the round sardinella Sardinella aurita Valenciennes, 1847 in the Aegean Sea was carried out between October 2010 and September 2011. In total 358 individuals were collected, from which 159 (44.4%) were males and 199 (55.6%) males. Female-male ratio was determined of 1.25:1. According to gonadosomatic index spawning season was observed May and July. Total fecundity ranges from 66.608 to 85.805 oocytes (mean: 72.057±5037.5), total length-fecundity relationship is F= 1309.3L1.275 (r2=0.82). Diameter of oocyte is 0.32-0.74 mm (mean 0.62±0.08).
