The aquaculture sector plays an increasingly strategic role in meeting global demand for animal protein. However, the sector`s sustainability is largely constrained by its dependence on feed raw materials such as fish meal and fish oil. Constraints such as declining stocks due to overfishing and price volatility have necessitated research into alternative lipid and protein sources. This review evaluates the potential of edible insect oils—which have emerged as a sustainable alternative—for use in feed rations. Based on current literature data, the nutritional profile of insect oils and their effects on fish growth performance will be examined; furthermore, the distinctive characteristics of these oils by species and insect feed, extraction techniques, limitations, and future projections will be discussed.
