The Current Situation of Fisheries in Adıyaman Province and Its Problems

DOI : 10.17693/yunusae.v2014i21954.235729 Viewed : 1919 - Downloaded : 1650 In this study carried out between January 01, 2013 and March 01, 2014, production quantity, marketing and sale of the fished and farmed fish species as well as technical features of fishing gears and problems of fisheries have been investigated in Adiyaman province. At the end of the study it has been determined that 1408 tons fish are obtained by fishing and aquaculture in Adiyaman province annually, trout barb (Capoetta spp.), golden barb (Carasobarbus luteus), carp (Cyprinus spp.), catfish (Silirus triostegus) and shabbout (Barbus grypus) are among the most catched fish species, only monofilament and multifilament PA gill nets are used in fishing made with 169 fishing boats totally. It's also resulted that the leading problems are that fishing areas aren't used actively, cooperatives don't work actively and fishermen don't have sufficient technical background and information.
